The “Bellalma S.S.A.” rises in the Perugia’s hills in a territory between San Martino in Campo and San Martino in Colle. A “new and young” Simple Farming Firm that decided to bet in Umbria after a solid experience in a metal engineering industry in Calabria. A family, called Caparra, who made one of the main industrial pole in Calabria with international contacts and orders. In the spirit of diversification, the two brothers, Alessandro and Marco Caparra, decided to turn the experience gained in those years, in farming and, in particular, in wine. A hard and exciting venture with a modern factory structure, that follows the industrial model. Organization, purposes, responsibility, hard work, professionalism and planning are some of the features that makes this “start-up” young but determined. A team work that weekly works in the vineyard as much as in the offices. After all, when Caparra’s brothers decided to invest in this sector, especially in Umbria, they knew how much the wine is important and demanding.
Currently, according to the local average, “Bellalma S.S.A” is a large or medium-sized farm company, with around 30-hectare grapevine cultivate and well organized. “Grechetto”, “Pinot Grigio”, “Merlot”, “Ancellotta” and “Falanghina”, ‘’Pinot Nero and ‘’Sangiovese’’ are some of the main wine types, that guarantee a strong starting point for a high-quality grapes and wine.
Bellalma S.S.A. has a large amount of efficient machines and work equipment, a warehouse, a storage with services for workers and a residential building. In addition to an excellent quality of grapes, the factory during the period 2016/2017 used the 30% of its grapes to make wine while the remaining part was sold to bigger local farm. The company cares a lot about the territory, using low environmental impact procedures, essential in order to ensure quality, respect and protection of the environment. The company never used chemical weed control, and bought a modern machine that mechanically remove the weed from the grapevines. The company think about wine as the summary of grapevines and wine cellar quality that is why there are a lot of quality check in all of the industrial processes. In particular, during the first year of activity, the 25% of the total grapes were used to make wine, making around 45.000 bottles of wine in other wine cellar that professionally cooperate with the company. From the second year, the whole amount of grapes is involved to make wine, that means that the company will make around 180.000 bottles of different wine, such as sparkling wine, red and white wine, on behalf of third parties, while the company works to make their own wine cellar, from the third year of activity. Other to their own wine cellar and a sampling, the company will also spend some energy to create selling point abroad.
The strength of the company is the different kind of red and white grapes, that allows to make unique type of wine. In this way, the Bellalma entrusted the vinification, with long-time contract, to one of the best local winemaker. He is a young expert who is making particular wine that will be appreciated from a large part of consumers.
PERGIUS (sparkling wine brut)
The variety of grapes Grechetto, used to produce this sparkling wine using the Martinotti Method , comes from the highest vineyard in the “Vigneto i Pini” factory, this gives to the grapes the acidity essential to make a fresh and fine product.
The color is a tenuous pale yellow that is so graceful, the aromas are fresh and floral with a scent of pineapple, astonishing fresh and delicate in the mouth, the sensation added by the CO2 is creamy and delicate, fresh and balanced on the palate.
MARTINCOLLE BIANCO (white wine)
Obtained only from a selection of our own “Grechetto” variety of grapes, “Martincolle Bianco” is an example of local wine strongly linked to its area of production.
Elegance, structure and personality are potentiality that this wonderful variety of wine can express and which are found, in their entirety, in the product.
The color is an intense straw yellow, charming and typical of Grechetto variety. The aromas are complex with hints of smoke and honey background. Important, fresh and voluminous in the mouth, gently structured in the finish.
MARTINCOLLE ROSSO (red wine)
The wine comes from a careful selection of the grapes Merlot of the vineyards located in the south of the Company Bellalma. The clay soils confer grapes an excellent ripeness level without reaching a high alcohol content.
Martincolle Rosso presents a deep red color with violet reflections. A wine with an unmistakable character.
Fruity on the nose with notes of currant and hints of alcohol soaked cherry. On the palate affable, smooth and structured in the finish. The tannins are powerful and velvety at the same time.
ROSSALMA (red wine)
Sangiovese, Merlot and Pinot Nero, carefully selected and hand-picked. full-bodied with an extraordinary taste-olfactory correspondence.
